Nevada City is situated in the United States of America in the state of California. The city has a total area of about 5.5km2. It is located in Nevada County which is about 166 miles northeast of San Francisco. The total population of the area is about 3000 according to the 2000 census with a population density of around 549.1/km2. This area has a lot of snow capped mountains and thus it is called Nevada which literally means snow covered. A lot of noteworthy reside in Nevada City like singer/songwriter Roger Hodgson. Many notable personalities have grown up in Nevada City like Joanna Newsom.

There’s Gold In Them there Hills

In 1849, someone found gold in the Deer Creek and seeing this, a lot of prospectors came in to town looking for this gold. Initially called Deer Creek Dry Diggins, Nevada City Calif got its name in 1850. The population was as much as 10,000 at the time of the gold rush. It is claimed to be finest of the Gold Rush towns preserved right now.

There are a lot of historical buildings in Nevada City and it is situated in picturesque scenery containing tall pines and snow covered mountains. This small district contains almost a 100 buildings registered with the National Register of Historic Places. It got the nickname Carmel of the Sierra Foothills due to the numerous amazing restaurants situated here.

Nevada County pulls in a lot of tourists due to the many great lakes present here. Both residents and visitors come here to enjoy with there families and friends. The Nevada Theater situated here is the oldest Original use theatre in California and the National Hotel is one of the oldest hotels and is situated west of the Rocky Mountains. California became the 31st State to join the union in 1850 and Nevada City Calif became the county seat of Nevada County.

The name was chosen after ballots were taken at a hotel. The city is a hub of activity and its fine restaurants and places to stay attract numerous amounts of tourists every year. There are two public golf courses and other private golf courses are open all year round. There are many other options as Nevada City Calif offers a wide variety to golfers.

Mountain biking is another very popular sport here but it is also quite dangerous due to the rocky terrain. The trails for biking are the same as trails for hikers and horseback riders. It is a risky sport but the effort is worth it. Nevada City also has a number of public parks. One of them is, Pioneer Park situated at Nimrod Street and is suitable for picnics, baseball and has a volleyball court and swimming pool. Others are Tobaissen Park and Condon Park.

Nevada City Calif is a fine place to visit and is a good choice for anyone looking for a nice time out with family and friends.
